THE COMMITTEES

ECONOMIC AFFAIRS

  • All matters directly and principally relating to economic development planning and programs inclusive of economic and socio-economic studies and development policies and strategies.
  • Issues that fall under this committee may include, but are not limited to: agriculture and aquaculture, banks and financial intermediaries, the preservation and conservation of natural resources, public works and highways, small business and rural development, trade and industry, and transportation.

GOOD GOVERNMENT AND PUBLIC ACCOUNTABILITY

  • All matters directly and principally relating to the national and local government, including autonomous regions, provinces, cities, municipalities and barangays including their revenues and expenditures, and matters relating to malfeasance, misfeasance, or nonfeasance in office committed by officers and employees of the government and its political subdivisions and instrumentalities.
  • Issues that fall under this committee may include, but are not limited to: agrarian reform, civil service and professional regulation, government enterprises and privatization, human rights, indigenous cultural communities, and IPs, Muslim affairs, overseas workers affairs, and suffrage and electoral reforms.

PUBLIC ORDER AND SAFETY

  • All matters directly and principally relating to the suppression of criminality including those on illegal gambling, private armies, terrorism, organized crime and illegal drugs, regulation of firearms, firecrackers and pyrotechnics, civil defense, private security agencies, and the Philippine National Police.
  • Issues that fall under this committee may include, but are not limited to: games and amusements, justice, national defense and security, public information, and dangerous drugs.

YOUTH

  • All matters directly and principally relating to youth development including the development of their leadership potentials and the promotion of their moral, physical, intellectual, and social well-being.
  • Issues that fall under this committee may include, but are not limited to: basic, higher, and technical education, culture, information and communications technology, people participation, science and technology, welfare of children, and sports development.

SOCIAL SERVICES

  • All matters directly and principally relating to social development and social services and interventions that develop and enhance the quality of individual and community life, including welfare of persons with disabilities and special needs.
  • Issues that fall under this committee may include, but are not limited to: energy, health, housing and urban development, labor and employment, poverty alleviation, tourism, and women and gender equality.
